Saba x Cinemateca, Villa del Grumello

Saba x Cinemateca, Villa del Grumello

Saba is pleased to have participated, as the main furnishing sponsor, in the second edition of “Cinemateca”, the annual festival dedicated to Italian archival cinema, organised in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and Wonderlake Como.

In the prestigious setting of Villa del Grumello in Como, three days of screenings and talks welcomed the public and numerous distinguished guests. The program, curated by the Cineteca Nazionale, offered a selection of films designed to invite viewers to rediscover the charm and value of Italian archival cinema.

The star of the main hall on the ground floor was the Simposio seating system designed by Studiopepe for Saba: an iconic product, perfectly aligned with the essence of the Cinemateca project. Its aesthetic arises from a harmonious interplay of simple and pure forms, shaped into sinuous and timeless lines. Conceived as a place of welcome and exchange, Simposio combines rounded and linear elements to create domestic arenas designed to inspire dialogue centred on beauty.

The Pan Flute armchairs served as the main seat for the guests of honour for the two evenings of this year’s edition. Director Matteo Garrone, known for a cinema that explores the complexity of reality, shared reflections on the regenerative power of the cinematic arts. Actress Alba Rohrwacher, one of the most compelling voices on the contemporary scene, brought her interpretive sensitivity, speaking about her latest film Tre Ciotole.

The other rooms of the villa, on the ground floor and first floor, were furnished with the new Anam armchairs designed by Federico Peri, a project that draws on classical aesthetics reinterpreted in a contemporary key through the designer’s refined work of subtraction. Their soft, enveloping forms, almost suspended, rest on small columns, as if they belonged to a parallel world made of balance and harmony.

Completing the set-up is the iconic Teatro Magico table by 967arch and a selection of accessories from the Saba collection: the Baby Geo armchair, the Pan Flute bench, and the Butter and Teatro Magico Low side tables, quietly shaping the atmosphere, like narrative elements unfolding in the room.

With this participation, Saba renews its commitment to support cultural projects that enhance Italy’s artistic heritage, offering spaces designed to encourage connection, beauty, and dialogue.
